FAQ
Where is the church gathering located?
Lily’s Church is currently meeting in a venue downtown Calgary. We’re excited to share that we’ve also found a new hall called Lakeside Community Hall, where we plan to gather there starting June 28, 2026.
What time does the Sunday Church gathering start?
The church gathering begins from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM. We recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early to allow time for parking and walking to the building.
Why do you use RSVPs?
RSVPs help us prepare well and create a safe, welcoming environment for everyone attending. It also allows us to connect personally with guests before they come, answer questions, and make sure people feel comfortable and cared for.
What should I bring?
You do not need to bring anything to attend. If you have a Bible, feel free to bring it, but don’t worry if you do not. Sometimes people also bring a small snack or drink to share, but there is never any pressure or expectation.
Why are you planting a church?
Samir and Faith Mekonnen feel called to plant churches internationally, but they sensed the Lord leading them first to Calgary because of the need for a local church rooted in Jesus, community, and discipleship. Samir previously served as a lead pastor in Edmonton, and Faith served as a children’s pastor. Together, they carry a deep burden to see simplicity, health, and intimacy restored in the Church by returning to ancient Christian practices for the local church. In faith, they sold their home and moved to Calgary with their four-month-old daughter, believing God was leading them to plant Lily’s Church.
Are you part of a denomination?
Lily’s Church is not part of a denomination but is rooted in historic Christian belief and shaped by the simplicity of the ancient church. We deeply value Scripture, the teachings of Jesus, prayer, worship, discipleship, and the breaking of bread together. While we are not officially part of a denomination, we gladly learn from faithful Christians throughout church history and across different traditions.
What should I expect Sunday?
You can expect a welcoming time together with food, conversation, worship, teaching, prayer, and community.
Can I bring guests to the church gathering?
Absolutely! you’re welcome to bring guests. We simply ask that each person RSVP so we can prepare enough food, make space for everyone, and send them the address and arrival details before Friday evening.
